Fritz Leiber Audio Files Part 11: Appointment in Tomorrow (aka Poor Superman) on X Minus One 07-Nov-1956

O.K.

I still promise this will be the last of the Fritz Leiber Old-Time-Radio shows that I post here (once again, until I find more).

But this had to be posted to complete the Fritz Leiber, X Minus One shows.

NOTE: If you do a normal click on the MP3 file link in this post, WordPress will play it for you.

If you’d like to download and save the file for yourself, and you are using a PC, right-click, to bring up the right-click menu and use the “Save Link As” function to save the MP3 file to your hard drive.

If you’d like to download and save the file for yourself, and you are using a Mac, I believe that would be ctrl + Click to bring up the right click menu, and use the “Download Linked File” function to save the MP3 file to your hard drive. I don’t own a Mac so please correct me if I am wrong!

The Journal of the H. P. Lovecraft Society No.1 1976 (The Fritz Leiber Issue)

It has been 34 years since the first issue of the Journal of the H. P. Lovecraft Society was published; and I believe it has fallen into the public domain category that will allow me to release it here; and I will remove it if a current copyright holder contacts me with a request to do so.

I am providing these scans freely from my collection as a tribute to Fritz Leiber.

As with other hard-to-find documents in my collection, I am providing a PDF file copy of this booklet here, and much higher resolution JPG individual images in the Fritz Leiber CthulhuWho1 Flickr Collection (along with 212 more Fritz Leiber related images) at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/cthulhuwho1/sets/72157625066410282/,

Journal of the H. P. Lovecraft Society No.1 1976 (The Fritz Leiber Issue)

This first issue, No.1 1976, was The Fritz Leiber Issue; and is a nice little tribute issue now that Fritz Leiber is no longer with us.

Please let me know in feedback if you would like to see more documents like this in the future.

The Fritz Leiber CthulhuWho1 Flickr Collection Is Now Open!

Yes, you’ll be as shocked as Fritz Leiber is above, when you take the time to look into the new Fritz Leiber CthulhuWho1 Flickr Collection at:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/cthulhuwho1/sets/72157625066410282/

Just think:

You’ll find out what Fritz Leiber looked like at the age of thirteen!

You’ll finally learn what Fritz Leiber looked like when he started corresponding with H. P. Lovecraft in 1936.

You’ll find out where to spot him in some of his acting roles.

You’ll discover where you can see Fritz Leiber Jr. & Sr. on the same stage and screen at the same time!

You’ll even see him as Dr. Arthur Waterman running with a book that looks a great deal like The Necronomicon!

You’ll see how I gave him writer’s cramp every time I hunted him down to sign another batch of my books.

You’ll see numerous books, documents, and photos.

And, you’ll see his final Love, who became his second wife, just months before his death…

How can you resist?

Here’s what Fritz Leiber will say if you don’t look at his photos:

Fritz Leiber Audio Files Part 7: An Hour with Fritz Leiber and Randall Garrett at Fantasy Faire 8 in September 1978

(Randall Garrett on the left, and Fritz Leiber on the right, both in 1978)

Fantasy Faire 8, September 22-24, 1978, in the Pasadena Hilton Hotel, there was a lot going on, including Robert Bloch being honored as the Guest of Honor; and I would have missed this audio treat if Bob and Mary Drayer, of Bob’s Comics hadn’t captured this audio for their Hourglass Productions release in their “An Hour With” series of tapes they were doing at that time.

It’s been over 30 years since Hourglass Productions has released any further tapes. And I believe this recording has fallen into the public domain; so I’m releasing it here until a current copyright holder asks for it to be removed.

NOTE: If you do a normal click on the MP3 file links in this post, WordPress will play them for you.

If you’d like to download and save the files for yourself, and you are using a PC, right-click, to bring up the right-click menu and use the “Save Link As” function to save the MP3 files to your hard drive.

I have not been able to currently locate Bob and Mary Drayer, but I would like to thank them wherever they are with the only pictures I could find of them and their store in 1978:

You can find the original cassette artwork and signatures for this recording, as well as many new (248!) Fritz Leiber related images in the newly opened Fritz Leiber CthulhuWho1 Flickr Collection at:http://www.flickr.com/photos/cthulhuwho1/sets/72157625066410282/

This is the end of the rarest Fritz Leiber Recordings I could offer for now, but if you’ll move on to the next post, I can provide a little Old-Time-Radio Fritz Leiber fun…

Fritz Leiber Audio Files Part 6: Fritz Leiber’s Comments from the 1978 Lovecraft Panel in Phoenix

For the fans of Fritz Leiber that would like to have all of his audio files in a set by themselves, I’ve pulled his previously posted comments into a separate file from the 03-Sep-1978, “What if Lovecraft had Lived into the 1960’s?” panel at the 36th World Science Fiction Convention in Phoenix that I posted earlier:

Fritz Leiber Audio Files Part 5: Fritz Leiber Reads Clark Ashton Smith’s “A Night in Malnéant”

(Jean Hart, Fritz Leiber, Will Hart World Fantasy III)

Saturday night, October 29, 1977 at the World Fantasy Convention, in the Music Room of the Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, following the 10:00 p.m. slot with Harlan Ellison performing his, “The Man Who Was Heavily Into Revenge,” was a hard act to follow, but as the years, and decades have gone by, Fritz Leiber’s far more mellow reading of Clark Ashton Smith’s, “A Night in Malnéant,” has become an absolute treasure to hear again and again.

Having the legendary Fritz Leiber, reading Clark Ashton Smith at the World Fantasy Convention dedicated to him, in the middle of so many Lovecraftians, and beautifully capturing the audio to share now for the first time in 33 years is amazing!

I hope this recording means as much to those who download it, as finding it, still in great shape, after all these years, means to me.

I’m so very glad to be able to finally hand out this treasure:

Fritz Leiber Audio Files Part 4: Epic Fantasy Panel Comments at World Fantasy Convention III 29-Oct-1977

Saturday afternoon, October 29, 1977 in Los Angeles, attending the third World Fantasy Convention in the Biltmore Hotel downtown, I had the pleasure of hearing Fritz Leiber on the Epic Fantasy Panel, and I recorded it all; unfortunately, I accidentally taped over the second half of the panel, and many of the tapes I made that weekend have self-destructed beyond recovery.

I was able to pull two segments of the comments from Fritz from the remaining first half of the panel; so just be happy I have these to share:
