H. P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Rises on South Park Part 3 of 3

It’s was truly an Eldritch Trilogy! Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the incredible minds, talents, and voices behind South Park did their homework on H. P. Lovecraft for all three parts of the trilogy that ended this week with South Park S14E13 “Coon Vs Coon and Friends!” The episode this week let us see R’Lyeh in another dimension (or was that actually Yuggoth?), The Necronomicon, The Old Ones, Abdul Alhazred (now as a Mad Prince!), more of The Elder Ones, and even The Dark One himself, Cthulhu, in a Coon & Friends T-Shirt.

“Coon Vs Coon and Friends” was a great finale for three weeks of Lovecraftian madness!

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD. TURN BACK NOW IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE SHOW, OR DON’T WANT ANY DETAILS UNTIL YOU DO!

Some of the best Lovecraftian and Cthulhu moments in this final episode of the trilogy included:

Most of the original South Park Coon & Friends gang finding themselves banished to R’Lyeh in another dimension (or is that really Yuggoth?):

The Burning Man Festival Attacked by Cthulhu at Cartman’s request; including wiping out the reporter who was giving Cthulhu top billing:

The Necronomicon making its appearance from the hands of one of the Goth kids:

Cthulhu grabbing and destroying the terribly evil (according to Cartman) Justin Bieber:

And finally, Cthulhu meeting his match in the parking lot, in the form of Mintberry Crunch, and being banished back to his own dimension:

This weeks episode may not have topped the others; but combined they were a true Lovecraftian treat!

Thank You Trey Parker and Matt Stone for a marvelous gift to all Lovecraftians!

I’ve said it before, but it is still true. Television just doesn’t get any better than this!
