The World’s Largest H. P. Lovecraft Audio Links Gateway!

This really should be called, “The World’s Largest English Language H. P. Lovecraft Audio Links Gateway!” But that title, while a bit more truthful, was just too long. I do apologize though, to those looking for non-English Language links in this Gateway; as the focus here, is on Lovecraft’s actual words, rather than translations.

Lovecraft said it best,

“The most merciful thing in the world, I think,

is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.”

But some of us still try!

And that is why this site has been created; to correlate all of the over 1200 known links to audio readings, and dramatizations of H. P. Lovecraft’s works that are freely available to listen to (most with just one click); and to download if desired.

All of these links connect with the files on their original sites, and are not stored here on CthulhuWho1.com (other than William Hart’s files). Direct links to each site are in the Links section along the right edge of this blog.

    I think your attribution of Dudley Knight as the reader of The Shadow Out of Time and other stories is incorrect. If you listen to the entire YouTube recording, you’ll hear that he identifies himself as Conrad Feininger. This is borne out by an LOC entry I found online as well as a video interview with him. This is a wonderful resource, however.

  And now, Thanks to the help of others giving suggestions, the number has climbed beyond 1000(!); even with the removal of a few of the original links that have since gone dead.
  
  I’m hoping this “Gateway” will introduce more people to the many wonderful Lovecraftian readings that are available, to the sites that host the readings, to the tremendous readers (like Morgan Scorpion!), and to the titles that still need good readings done for them.

The mound at uvula audio was narrated by J.J. Campanella. Uvula Audio also has their own version of the Shadow Out of Time, narrated by J.J. as well.

I didn’t know this but “the Mound” is actually a sequel to “the Curse of Yig”. It’s the same ethnologist narrator who does both stories.     The Gateway currently only contains Lovecraft’s solo work, with the possibility of his collaborations, ghost-writing and revisions being added as time goes by.
    
    The Derleth “posthumous collaborations” will probably never be added to this list, as they are Derleth’s stories inspired by Lovecraft; but Lovecraft had nothing to do with their writing.

    I’m always ready to add new links to Lovecraft readings from YouTube and elsewhere, and I also personally collect all of August Derleth’s writings too; but Derleth’s audio links, as “Posthumous Collaborations” or “Pastiches” belong to an August Derleth Gateway, and are not Lovecraft’s work. So they will never be part of this Lovecraft Gateway.

I wanted to just tell everyone that Uvula Audio is now bookcasting “The King In Yellow” by Robert W. Chambers. Chambers was a major influence on Lovecraft’s writings. You can see that very
directly with the first four stories in his anthology– especially in “The Repairer of Reputations”.. Lovecraft learned a lot of his horror style from Chambers– and August Derleth made “The King In Yellow” part of the Lovecraft legacy.

Anyway, I thought you might like a link to our bookcast. Jim Campanella, as usual, does an awesome job of narrating these scary stories.

For those that are wondering what titles are included within Lovecraft “Fragments” and “Early Tales.” It goes as follows and in order. Lovecraft Fragments: Azathoth, The Descendant, The Book. Lovecraft Early Tales: The Beast in The Cave, The Alchemist, The Transition of Juan Romero, The Street, Poetry and The Gods. all are narrated by Gorgon Gould.

Jim Campanella has just narrated the last of the Lovecraft/Bishop stories– “Medusa’s Coil”! It is definitely a Lovecraft story, but you can see that Bishop had her fingers all over it– and probably for the better! I think the story falls into the Southern Gothic Horror category– if you call Missouri the South. Enjoy!
