(Randall Garrett on the left, and Fritz Leiber on the right, both in 1978)
Fantasy Faire 8, September 22-24, 1978, in the Pasadena Hilton Hotel, there was a lot going on, including Robert Bloch being honored as the Guest of Honor; and I would have missed this audio treat if Bob and Mary Drayer, of Bob’s Comics hadn’t captured this audio for their Hourglass Productions release in their “An Hour With” series of tapes they were doing at that time.
It’s been over 30 years since Hourglass Productions has released any further tapes. And I believe this recording has fallen into the public domain; so I’m releasing it here until a current copyright holder asks for it to be removed.
NOTE: If you do a normal click on the MP3 file links in this post, WordPress will play them for you.
If you’d like to download and save the files for yourself, and you are using a PC, right-click, to bring up the right-click menu and use the “Save Link As” function to save the MP3 files to your hard drive.
If you’d like to download and save the files for yourself, and you are using a Mac, I believe that would be Ctrl + Click to bring up the right click menu, and use the “Download Linked File” function to save the MP3 files to your hard drive. I don’t own a Mac so please correct me if I am wrong!
I have not been able to currently locate Bob and Mary Drayer, but I would like to thank them wherever they are with the only pictures I could find of them and their store in 1978:
You can find the original cassette artwork and signatures for this recording, as well as many new (248!) Fritz Leiber related images in the newly opened Fritz Leiber CthulhuWho1 Flickr Collection at:http://www.flickr.com/photos/cthulhuwho1/sets/72157625066410282/
This is the end of the rarest Fritz Leiber Recordings I could offer for now, but if you’ll move on to the next post, I can provide a little Old-Time-Radio Fritz Leiber fun…
You can’t imagine how grateful I am to you for uploading all these Fritz’s audio stuff.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
PS: keep on uploading, if you have something else, please!!
Federico,
Your are very welcome!
What’s mine is yours.
If I can find any more Fritz Leiber recordings in my collection, I will post them here.
And I’ve added your email address to my mailing list, so you will be notified each time I add more to this blog.
Oh, yes I’ve heard of Shu-Mhate, that ol’ Goat with a Thousand Young. (And while we’re on the subject, have you read his other neaondfus tome, The Golden Age of Crap ? It’s considerably less difficult to find than the Necronomicon yet the movies reviewed within will have the same basic effect on your sanity. Makes a great St. Tsathoggua’s Day present, too!)
